The Grisons architect Tilla Theus (*1943) graduated from ETH Zurich in 1969 and opened her own office in the same year. From the very beginning, historical and preservation issues have characterized her architectural work: from the listed garden in a nursing home in Mollis, Glarus (1970), the Hotel Widder (1985) and the conversion of Bank Leu (2021) in Zurich's old town, to the recently completed Hotel Caspar in Muri, Aargau (2022). Her new buildings and renovations are characterized by precisely selected structural details, a finely tuned choice of materials and colors, and an interplay of light and atmosphere, as in the new FIFA headquarters (2006) or in the conversion of Haus Rechberg (2012) in Zurich.
