Luigi Snozzi (*1932) studied at the ETH Zurich from 1952 to 1957 and founded his own office in Locarno in 1958. From 1962 to 1968, he worked in an office partnership with Livio Vacchini and has shared the office with Bruno Jenni since 1980. In 1988, he opened a second office in Lausanne. Between 1973 and 1975, Luigi Snozzi was a guest lecturer at the ETH Zurich, and from 1985 to 1997 he taught as a full professor at the EPFL in Lausanne. Luigi Snozzi attracted international attention with the redesign and revitalization of the village of Monte Carasso in Ticino (1977). Other important buildings by Luigi Snozzi include the school and town hall in San Nazzaro (1973-78), the Casa Kalman in Brione s. Minusio (1975-1976), the Barbarossa House in Minusio (1985), the STOA residential complex in Maastricht (1993-2002), as well as numerous other residential buildings and urban designs. His exposed concrete buildings not only stand for the further development of modern architecture, but also for the mediation between the architectural object and the public space of the city and the landscape.
