The Dutch designer Petra Blaisse (*1955) is one of the important figures in the architecture of the last decades. She has not only made crucial contributions to projects such as Villa Lemoine in Bordeaux by OMA or the Museum of Art in Toledo by SANAA, but her work constantly questions the limits of the discipline. The work of her office Inside Outside, founded in Amsterdam in 1991, involves interiors spaces and exterior spaces, as well as designs at all scales. What her textiles, stage designs, exhibitions, pavilions or gardens all have in common is that they include traditional topics of architecture such as space and materiality beside aspects including sound and temperatur, or movement and time. Therefore the projects of Petra Blaisse always deal with the built environment in its entire breadth.
