Franz Füeg (*1921) was a leading member of the so-called “School of Solothurn”. In addition to the house for a musician in Solothurn (1955-56) and the Portmann house in Hessigkofen (1962-64), his most important buildings include the school in Kleinlützel (1957-61), the scientific institutes of the University of Fribourg (1960-68) and above all the Catholic church in Meggen (1960-66). In addition to his work as an architect, he was also editor-in-chief of Bauen und Wohnen between 1958 and 1961 and a full professor at the ETH in Lausanne from 1968 to 1986. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the ETH in 2006.
