Bruno Reichlin

With his outstanding practical and theoretical work Bruno Reichlin (b.1941) is one of the crucial figures in postwar architecture in Switzerland. After studies at ETH Zurich he founded a practice in Lugano with Fabio Reinhart in 1970 and they went on to produce influential buildings, such as Casa Tonini in Toricella (1974), and competition entries, such as the restoration of Castello Grande in Bellinzona (1976). At the same time, Bruno Reichlin conducted research as an assistant of Aldo Rossi and as a collaborator of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture at ETH Zurich, before he took up a professorship at Ecole d’Architecture in Geneva in 1984 and at Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio in 2002. His important studies on Le Corbusier, Carlo Mollino or Jean Prouvé have in common the negotiation of theory and practice in architectural design.
