Focus Works
A focus work offers the opportunity to deepen the knowledge gained in the field of history, criticism and theory of architecture in writing. The elaboration and formulation essentially serve the following objectives:
First and foremost, it is about the independent development of an architectural-theoretical or cultural-historical question and its treatment and answering in an academic text. The core of the work and thus also the decisive criteria for assessment are the development of the student's own points of view and arguments on the basis of sources and research literature and their coherent and comprehensible presentation.
In doing so, an appropriate scientific working method should be developed. The relevant techniques and criteria include: the research and selection of research literature and source corpus, the analysis of sources, the development, verification and independent argumentation of one or more hypotheses based on the analysis and reading, the verifiability and methodological transparency of the work as well as linguistic and formal accuracy.
