Fritz Haller (*1924) is considered one of the most influential Swiss architects and researchers of the 20th century in the field of industrial construction. In the early 1960s, together with the architects Alfons Barth, Franz Füeg, Max Schlup and Hans Zaugg, who also came from the Solothurn region, he became known far beyond the borders of Switzerland as a representative of the so-called Solothurn School. Haller's oeuvre encompasses a remarkable spectrum of very different buildings and projects, ranging from school buildings, residential and commercial buildings, industrial halls and machine factories to digital planning tools. The “USM Haller” furniture system developed in collaboration with USM has become a world-class brand. Fritz Haller embodies an idea of architectural production that moves impressively in the interdisciplinary field of tension between art, technology and science.
